There is no way around the fact that tile floors are beautiful. While there are certainly some cheaper options that don’t look all that great, a high-end tile floor will shock and amaze your guests.
If the tiles are made from porcelain, then you get the added benefit of low maintenance. Ceramic tiles are made using a different process.
To be honest – a lot of other types of flooring simply cannot match the resiliency that tile gives your home. It’s not uncommon for tile to be glazed, which provides additional protection.
While there are several ways to do it, there is a best way to clean tile floors, and it’s not anywhere near as difficult as you might think.
Quick Tip: If you want to avoid serious cleaning, never allow dirt or spills to get comfortable on your flooring. You’ll make it much more difficult to get a thorough clean later on.
Standard Cleaning For Tile Floors
You always strive to perform standard cleaning. It consists of daily vacuuming or sweeping. It removes food crumbs, dirt and all sorts of other debris. If dirt isn’t removed quickly, it will sit on tile floor and transform into grime.
Mop tile floors using warm water. This is another aspect of standard care. Always make sure to clean up spills immediately. If you follow this basic care routine, your tile flooring will look great most of the time.
The Best Way to Clean Tile Flooring
Over time, even the best floor will accumulate debris that make it look dull and ugly. What are you supposed to do when this happens? There is a deep cleaning technique that will work incredibly well on tile floors.
We’ve chosen this technique as the best. First, mix 1 gallon of water with ½ cup of vinegar. Mop your tile flooring as you normally would. This is the best cleaning solution that you can use. It protects and cleans your tile while not being too harsh on it.
Keep the Grout Clean
If you have tile floors, then the tiles are held in place by grout, so it’s important to keep the grout clean. One of the top ways to clean grout is with a pencil eraser. It works exceptionally well for small, stained areas of grout.
All you need to do is run a number 2 pencil eraser across the grout stain. You should try to use a clean pink or white eraser for the task.
Another great way to clean grout involves baking soda. All you need to do is make a paste of equal parts water and baking soda. After applying this mixture to the grout, use an old toothbrush to scrub away the dirt or stain.
When you’re finished, rinse everything with water. If the stain is especially tough, let the baking soda solution sit on it for a few minutes before finishing up.
The Power of Plain Water
It’s natural to think that plain warm water won’t work well for cleaning, but it’s actually one of the best ways to get tile floors clean. In fact, the vinegar is optional. Unless you’re dealing with chicken juice or some horrible stain, you’ll find it difficult to beat the cleaning power of warm water.
